WEALTH TAX 2009

The old wealth tax has been abolished, by a law passed in December 2008, However non-residents' income tax , which was part of the modelo 214, is still payable.

There are new dates to watch out for, for submission of modelo 210, which is the form needed to submit income tax for non-resident property owners, who bought their house BEFORE 31st December 2008. I am currently awaiting confirmation of how this will work. It has been suggested it will be part of the normal renta process, but I am awaiting confirmation.

This tax MUST be paid before 30th June 2009, in respect of the year 2008

This is different to the old wealth tax, which gave you until December to pay.

You will only pay  a relatively small amount compared to the old wealth tax.
